Suspended Coffee Day

Suspended Coffee Day also known as Pending Coffee Day is observed annually on 10 December.

It is to honor the Italian tradition of caffè sospeso, which originated in 19th-century Naples.

In this practice, a customer would pay for two cups of coffee but drink only one, leaving the second “suspended” for someone who could not afford it.

The tradition gained popularity after World War II, during a time of economic hardship, and symbolizes generosity, solidarity, and community spirit.

Today, Suspended Coffee Day is celebrated worldwide through cafés, cultural events, and social initiatives, encouraging small acts of kindness and reviving this historic custom of helping those in need.
