Telugu Desam Political Party (TDP) was founded.

On 29th March 1982, The Telugu Desam regional political party was founded by the legendary Indian actor and filmmaker N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) in Andhra Pradesh.

The Party’s yellow flag features a symbol that includes a hut, a wheel, and a plough.

The hut represents families, the wheel represents workers and progress, and the plough represents farmers.

Its election symbol is the bicycle, and its flag is yellow, representing prosperity.

The party was officially announced at a meeting held at the New MLA Quarters in Hyderabad.

The party came to power just nine months after its formation by winning a landslide victory in the 1983 assembly elections.
