India’s first Financial daily ‘The Economic Times’ (ET) started publication from Bombay.
On 5 March 1961, The Economic Times was indeed founded in Mumbai by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., the flagship company of The Times Group.
It is recognised as India’s premier English-language business daily and the world’s second-most widely read English business newspaper after The Wall Street Journal.
The publication provides comprehensive coverage of economic policy, corporate affairs, international finance, banking, taxation, and stock market share prices.
It was launched to offer in-depth analysis of the Indian economy at a time when the country was operating under a state-controlled economic system.
Over the decades, it has grown into one of the world’s most widely read financial newspapers, with both print and digital editions.
