The Hindu News Paper was founded.
On September 20 1878, The Hindu news paper was founded in Madras as a weekly English-language newspaper by six young nationalists led by a radical social reformer and school teacher, G. Subramania Aiyer.
They aimed to promote harmony and represent the feelings of the Indian people to the British authorities.
The inaugural issue was published at the Srinidhi Press, with Subramania Iyer serving as the first editor.
Which evolved into an evening daily on April 1, 1889.
On April 1, 1905, Kasturi Ranga Iyengar acquired The Hindu and the National Press from G. Subramania Aiyer, marking a significant turning point in the newspaper’s history.
Later a morning daily on November 11, 1940. KSL expanded its influence with the introduction of The Sportstar, a weekly sports magazine.
On July 15, 1978, and Frontline, a fortnightly current affairs magazine, on December 1, 1984.
On January 28, 1994, KSL started The Hindu Business Line, a dedicated business daily.
The organization embraced digital innovation by launching The Hindu’s Internet Edition on April 18, 1996.
On September 13, 2003,
The Hindu news paper marked its 125th anniversary.
On September 20, 2012, KSL established The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy, reinforcing its commitment to fostering informed public discourse.
