Tripura Formation Day

Tripura Formation Day is celebrated annually on january 21st in India.

Tripura was originally a princely state.

It merged with India in October 1949.

After independence, Tripura was a Union Territory, directly governed by the central government.

On January 21, 1972, Tripura became a full-fledged state of India under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.
