Turtle Adoption Day

Turtle Adoption Day is observed every year on November 27th.

It is to encourage people to support the care, rescue, and long-term conservation of turtles and tortoises.

Established in November 15, 2011, and first celebrated two days after the article was posted.

The day focuses on responsible “adoption”—not taking turtles from the wild, but sponsoring rescued or rehabilitated animals in shelters, aquariums, and wildlife centres.

It helps fund food, medical treatment, habitat maintenance, and conservation programs.
