Uda Devi
Uda Devi Pasi an Indian woman freedom fightress, soldieress.
She participated in the war on behalf of Indian soldiers against the British East India Company, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
In the Battle of Sikandar Bagh, she climbed a tree and shot at advancing British soldiers; she was later found dead in that tree.
A British account noted she was armed with heavy pistols and had killed several British soldiers from her perch.
She was a member of the women’s battalion of Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh.

She is remembered as one of the “Dalit Veeranganas” (Dalit women warriors) of the 1857 uprising.
