Ugadi

Ugadi, also known as Samvatsaradi, is primarily celebrated in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on the first day of the Hindu month of Chaitra.

On this day, a special dish called Ugadi Pachadi is prepared, symbolizing the six tastes (Shadruchulu) of life—sadness, happiness, anger, fear, disgust, and surprise.

The festival is known by different names across India: Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Yugadi in Karnataka, Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra and Goa, and Sajibu Nongma Panba (Cheiraoba) in Manipur.

It marks the New Year according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar.
