Unity Day

Unity Day is observed annually in Zambia on the Tuesday following the first Monday in July.

The observance reflects the vision of Zambia's first President, Kenneth Kaunda, who promoted national unity among the country's diverse ethnic and linguistic communities under the national motto, "One Zambia, One Nation."

The day celebrates national unity, peaceful coexistence, social cohesion, and the shared identity of the Zambian people.

It is marked through official ceremonies, speeches, cultural performances, community activities, educational programmes, and initiatives that promote unity, reconciliation, and national harmony.
