Van Mahotsav - 7th Day

Van Mahotsav is observed annually in India from 1 July to 7 July.

The festival traces its origins to India's first National Tree Planting Week, organized by M. S. Randhawa from 20 to 27 July 1947.

It was launched nationwide as Van Mahotsav in 1950 by K. M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Food and Agriculture, to promote afforestation and environmental conservation.

The festival encourages people and organizations across India to plant and protect trees, helping increase green cover and promote environmental sustainability.
