On 2 July 1962, Sam Walton founded Walmart by opening the first Wal-Mart Discount City store in Rogers, Arkansas, USA.

The store was established on Walton's vision of offering customers everyday low prices and quality merchandise.

By 1967, the Walton family operated 24 stores with annual sales of US$12.7 million.

The company was officially incorporated as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 1969.

Wal-mart later grew into the world's largest retail corporation, operating thousands of stores and e-commerce platforms across numerous countries.
