The World Bank banned software company Satyam Computer Services for eight years.
On 23 December 2009, the World Bank, from its headquarters in Washington, D.C., United States, debarred Satyam Computer Services Ltd. from participating in World Bank–funded projects worldwide for eight years.
At that time, the company was still Satyam Computer Services Ltd.
The name “Mahindra Satyam” came later, after Tech Mahindra acquired and rebranded the company.
The ban did not apply to Tech Mahindra; it applied specifically to Satyam.
Satyam Computer Services Ltd. was incorporated (founded) on 24 June 1987 in Hyderabad, India.
