World Day Against Software Patents

World Day Against Software Patents is an annual initiative on September 24th.

It is established by a global coalition, that raises awareness about the negative impacts of software and business method patents on innovation and small businesses.

The day commemorates efforts, such as amendments to the 2003 EU Software Patent Directive, and advocates for the exclusion of software from patent systems to protect developers, foster innovation, and prevent issues like “patent trolls”.
