World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly

World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly is observed on fourth Sunday in July.

This day was established by Pope Francis in 2021 to be celebrated annually near the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.

The purpose of the day is to show love and appreciation for grandparents and the elderly members of our families and communities.

The theme for this year's celebration is "Blessed are those who have not lost hope".
