World Day of Migrants and Refugees
World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) is an annual event that takes place on the last Sunday of September.
It is established in 1914 by Pope Pius X as a response to the challenges faced by migrants and displaced people.
Rooted in the Catholic tradition but recognized more widely across the world, the day draws attention to the struggles, dignity, and resilience of migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of human trafficking.
Each year, the Pope shares a message with a new theme, highlighting the importance of compassion, inclusion, and solidarity with those forced to leave their homes.
