World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is observed annually on June 17th.

It is to raise awareness about desertification, land degradation, and drought, and to promote sustainable land management.

Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1994, it highlights the urgent need to address these environmental challenges, which threaten ecosystems, food security, and livelihoods, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions.
