World Horse Day

World Horse Day is observed annually on 11 July.

The observance recognizes the historic and continuing contributions of horses to human civilization, agriculture, transportation, culture, sport, tourism, and rural livelihoods.

It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on 3 June 2025 through Resolution 79/291.

The day promotes equine welfare, conservation, sustainable horse management, and appreciation of the bond between humans and horses.

It is marked through educational programmes, equestrian events, cultural activities, horse welfare initiatives, and public awareness campaigns celebrating the role of horses around the world.
