On 16 March 1926, the world’s first liquid-propellant rocket was launched by Robert H. Goddard in Auburn, Massachusetts, USA.

The rocket used liquid oxygen and gasoline as propellants.

It flew a distance of 56 meters (184 feet) and reached a height of about 12 meters (41 feet).

Though modest in scale, this launch proved that liquid-fueled rockets were feasible and could be controlled, paving the way for modern rocketry and eventually space travel.

This event is considered the birth of modern rocketry.
