Babasaheb Purandare (Balwant Moreshwar Purandare) – an Indian historian, writer of books and plays from Maharashtra.

Widely known as “Shiv Shahir” for his extensive works on the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Author of Raja Shivchatrapati and creator of the historical theatrical production Janata Raja.

Recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, and the Maharashtra Bhushan.
