The First Issue of National Geographic Magazine Was Published.

On 22 September 1888, the first issue of The National Geographic Magazine was published by the National Geographic Society, eight months after the Society was founded in Washington, D.C.

The inaugural 98-page issue was printed in New Haven, Connecticut, contained no photographs and originally cost 50 cents.
