Annexation of Orissa by the British East India Company.
The British East India Company conquered and annexed the province of Cuttack, covering coastal Odisha (Orissa) including Balasore port and parts of the Mughalbandi region, in 1803 during the Second Anglo-Maratha War (1803–1805).
British forces under Colonel Harcourt captured Puri on 18 September 1803 and Barabati Fort at Cuttack on 14 October 1803.
British control was formally recognized through the Treaty of Deogaon, signed on 17 December 1803 with Raghoji II Bhonsle of Nagpur.
