Gisela Bonn

Gisela Bonn (Gisela Margarete Ellen Döhrn) – a German journalist, writeress, Indologist, environmental activist.

Padma Shri recipient.

She received this honour in 1990 for promoting Indo-German friendship.

She authored several books on India and worked extensively to strengthen Indo-German relations.

The Gisela Bonn Award was instituted by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in her memory to recognise contributions to Indo-German friendship.
