Hyundai Motor Company was founded.

On 29 December 1967, Hyundai Motor was founded by Chung Ju-yung in Seoul, South Korea.

It was established as part of the Hyundai Group to develop a domestic automobile industry.

The company later expanded globally to become a major automobile manufacturer.
