INS Vikrant was launched in the United Kingdom as HMS Hercules.

On 22 September 1945, the British aircraft carrier HMS Hercules was launched in the United Kingdom.

Its construction was later suspended, and India purchased the unfinished carrier from Britain in 1957.

After completion, it was commissioned as INS Vikrant on 4 March 1961, becoming India’s first aircraft carrier.
