Penguin Awareness Day

Penguin Awareness Day is celebrated annually on january 20th. The day helps raise awareness about the flightless birds whose numbers are dwindling by the day. In 1972, Gerry Wallace of Alamogordo, California wrote the event of Penguin Awareness Day on his wife Aleta's calendar. Since then, this day has been observed.
