Radhika was born on August 21, 1962, to veteran Tamil actor M. R. Radha and Geetha. She made her acting debut in the Tamil film Kizhakke Pogum Rail (1978), directed by Bharathiraja.

She subsequently built an extensive career across Indian cinema, working primarily in Tamil and Telugu films, while also appearing in Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi productions. She became particularly popular during the 1980s and 1990s through a wide range of leading and character roles.
