São Tomé and Príncipe Independence Day

São Tomé and Príncipe Independence Day  is observed annually on 12 July.

The observance commemorates São Tomé (Saint Thomas ) and Príncipe's (Prince's Island) independence from Portugal in 1975 and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe.

The day celebrates national sovereignty, freedom, unity, and the cultural heritage of the São Toméan people.

It is marked through official ceremonies, flag-raising events, parades, cultural performances, traditional music and dance, community gatherings, sporting events, and patriotic celebrations across the country.
