Ambedkar was admitted to Columbia University in New York, USA.

On 15 January 1913, Dr. Ambedkar was appointed in the Military Department’s Accountant General Office in Baroda.

Because of the humiliation he faced at work, he left the job.

On 4 April 1913, Ambedkar’s Baroda scholarship was sanctioned as special financial assistance.​

On 4 June 1913, the formal scholarship agreement was signed for £11.5 per month for three years.

On 20 July 1913, Babasaheb Ambedkar arrived in New York and joined Columbia University for postgraduate studies under a scholarship from the Baroda State.
