First-Ever Photo Posted to the World Wide Web.

On 18 July 1992, the first widely recognized photograph was posted to the World Wide Web (WWW) at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, marking a milestone in the evolution of the internet.

The image, known as Les Horribles Cernettes, featured members of the CERN parody band. It was photographed by Silvano de Gennaro and later uploaded to CERN's web server (info.cern.ch) during early tests of the World Wide Web developed by Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

The milestone demonstrated the web's ability to display and share photographs online, paving the way for digital image sharing, websites, online publishing, multimedia communication, social media, visual content, and the modern web used by billions of people worldwide.
