Andhra Pradesh was reorganised with the addition of 13 new districts, increasing the total from 13 to 26.
On 4th April 2022, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Y S Jagan introduced 13 new districts under the AP Districts Formation Act.
13 districts of Andhra Pradesh were formed into 26 districts.
The government has issued a draft notification for introducing these 13 new districts.
The 13 new districts formed were Alluri Sitharama Raju, Anakapalli, Annamayya, Bapatla, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Eluru, Kakinada, NTR, Nandyal, Palnadu, Parvathipuram Manyam, Sri Sathya Sai, and Tirupati.
On 31 December 2025, two newest districts of Andhra Pradesh, Markapuram and Polavaram, officially came into existence, increasing the total number of districts in the state to 28.
