International Firgun Day

International Firgun Day is observed annually on 17 July.

The observance celebrates firgun, a Hebrew word describing genuine, selfless joy in another person's success or achievements without envy or expectation of reward.

Founded by Made in JLM, a Jerusalem-based nonprofit community organization, the observance was established in 2014 in Israel to promote firgun as a universal value of appreciation and mutual encouragement.

Although it originated in Israel, the day is now observed by individuals, communities, workplaces, schools, and organizations around the world.

It encourages people to celebrate the achievements of friends, family, colleagues, and even strangers through sincere compliments and recognition.
