International Rock Day

International Rock Day is observed annually on 13 July.

Despite the name, the observance celebrates literal rocks and the science of geology, not rock music.

It highlights the importance of rocks, minerals, and fossils in understanding Earth's history, geological processes, and the evolution of life.

The day encourages geology education, scientific exploration, rock collecting, and the conservation of Earth's geological heritage.

Its exact origin and founder remain unknown, but it is informally observed by geologists, educators, museums, science enthusiasts, and nature lovers.
