Manipur Formation Day

Manipur Formation Day is celebrated annually on january 21st in India.

Manipur was originally a princely state in India.

After India gained independence, it merged with India in October 1949.

Initially, it was a Union Territory, meaning it was directly governed by the central government.

On January 21, 1972, Manipur became a full-fledged state of India under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.
