Sundarlal Sharma an Indian freedom fighter, social reformer, author, pandit.
He earned the title ‘Gandhi of Chhattisgarh’.
Founder of Smitra Mandal, to promote and sell Swadeshi (indigenous) goods.
Founder of Political Council at Dhamtari, to bring political and social awareness to the region.
Founder of Satyagraha Ashram, to train local youth in Satyagraha and non-cooperation.
Founder of Kavi Samaj, to promote poetry, literature, and education.
He did revolutionary work in the field of untouchability.
For this work, he had to face the wrath of the Brahmin class, he had to suffer humiliation.
Sundarlal Sharma was associated with the ‘National Peasant Movement’, ‘Alcohol Prohibition’, ‘Adivasi Movement’, ‘Swadeshi Movement’ and sacrificed his life for the sake of national freedom.
Chhattisgarh has a university named after Pandit Sunderlal Sharma.
