The Battle of Festubert began.

On 15 May 1915, the Battle of Festubert began near Festubert in northern France during World War I.

British and Indian troops of the British Indian Army fought against German forces on the Western Front through trench warfare, artillery bombardments, and night assaults.

Indian soldiers from divisions such as the Indian 7th (Meerut) Division participated in the battle and suffered heavy casualties, including thousands killed, wounded, and missing during the fighting.

The battle became one of the major early World War I engagements involving Indian troops in Europe.

On 25 May 1915, the Battle of Festubert ended after ten days of intense fighting, with the Allies capturing limited territory at heavy cost.
