Territorial Army Day - India

Territorial Army Day also known as Raising Day of Territorial Army is observed annually on 9 October in India.

It commemorates the formal inauguration of the Territorial Army by India’s first Governor-General, C. Rajagopalachari, on 9 October 1949.

The day honours the service of India’s “Citizen’s Army” in national defence, internal security, disaster relief and other national duties.
