National Doctors Day
National Doctors' Day is observed annually in India on 1 July.
It commemorates the birth and death anniversary of Bidhan Chandra Roy, an eminent physician, educationist, freedom fighter, and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal.
The observance was established by the Government of India in 1991 to honor the invaluable contributions of doctors to society and the nation.
The day recognizes the dedication, compassion, and selfless service of doctors in protecting public health, saving lives, and advancing medical care.
It is marked through award ceremonies, medical conferences, health awareness programmes, free health camps, and initiatives that express gratitude to healthcare professionals.
