International Capybara Appreciation Day

International Capybara Appreciation Day, also known as Capybara Appreciation Day, is observed annually on 10 July.

The observance originated as Caplin Day in 2011, established by Melanie Typaldos to honor her pet capybara, Caplin Rous, on his birthday.

It later evolved into International Capybara Appreciation Day.

The day celebrates the capybara, the world's largest living rodent, while promoting wildlife education and conservation.

It is marked through zoo visits, awareness campaigns, educational programmes, and conservation activities.
