International Day of UN Peacekeepers

International Day of UN Peacekeepers or International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers is observed annually on May 29th.

It was established by the UN General Assembly in 2002. The date marks the anniversary of the creation of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) in 1948, the first UN peacekeeping mission, which monitored the ceasefire after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
