On 10 May 2026, Joseph Vijay (Thalapathy Vijay) assumed office as the 9th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after taking oath at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

He signed his first orders, announcing 200 units of free electricity, forming a special task force against drug-related crimes, and creating a dedicated women’s safety force.
