Tripura was officially integrated into the Indian Union.

On October 15th 1949, princely state Tripura was officially annexed by India through the Merger Agreement signed on September 9th 1949.

The agreement, between the Governor-General of India and His Highness the Maharaja of Tripura, formalized Tripura’s transition from a princely state to a Part C state under India’s administration.
